I mean they got the spurs, the Rockets and the Mavs. Do not tell me it is because Texas is a big state, Alaska is bigger but they got 0 NBA team. Why is the league allowing this? Should the Raptors move to Alaska?

its based on the marketability of the franchise.

the best way to gauge this marketability is in the population of the state and its spending power. so now you can ave more than 1 team in one state just like california and texas

so it goes alaska, with very few population and not necessarily basketball country, is off the nba map. c'mon, its quite simple isnt it?

Umm... it's all and only about business.

Texas happens to have three markets large enough for three separate teams, and people to fill the arenas and buy merchandise of each of those teams.

The NBA will approve a team anywhere there is money to be spent on them.

So, it's not necessarily because Texas is a big state, but it certainly isn't a coincidence that a state that has more people has a better chance of having three teams, because there are enough fans to support all three. (California the same way)

It is because they are big in population. Alaska has more ice chunks per square mile then people. L.A. has 2 teams for 1 city.
California has 4 in the entire state.

Houston and Dallas are both big markets, and San Antonio created a strong base from their ABA days. California has 4 teams, Lakers, Clippers, Kings and Warriors. Alaska may be big but no one lives there

along with the population size of the state...can u imagine the flight just to get to alaska? that would be almost like flying from the east coast to the west coast (as far as distance goes) for teams in their own division (theyd probably be in the northwest division). it wouldnt make any sense.

It is based on the population of the state not it's size. Florida has two teams, the city of Los Angeles itself has two teams and California has four total.
