When ever i plug in the adapter it gose right to AC power but i want it to charge. also, wen ever i open up the properties for next to the battery icon it says "Not Present". also, so the laptop dosent over heat ive been putting an ice pack on it

It should go to the AC power. Does the power light change from green to orange? If so, that indicates it's charging.

Are you sure the battery is good? How long does it last while on battery? If it's not charging then either something is wrong with the battery or the charging circuit in the computer.

Icepack? Perhaps you'd be better off figuring out why it gets hot. An icepack can generate condensation which is never good around electronics.

could be that you need a new motherboard. My system wouldn't charge up even though I had a new ac adapter.......they replaced my motherboard and it works like wonders....

maybe u need to reformat ur computer.
or ask the guy u bought it from.
