To answer that question would be to ask you what is your schedule like. Home a lot? Long trips? Grooming? Feeding and veterinarians expenses?
I have 6 cats, 2 fish and a dog. My cats have several tall carpeted trees and many scratching posts that they love and they sleep with me whenever I take a break or amuse themselves with the toys they have.Potty boxes are not bad as I have a mechanical one and a poo per box than recycles itself with a quick turn. (All of this can be found at petsmart however you can minimize it all with just one cat.)Dogs need a very regular, daily schedule, especially walks!
I always get a sitter for my cats since the expense and the loneliness of leaving my cats is too difficult. I also have the babysitter for my dog as he is small and she walks him 3 times a day.
The fish (BETA) require food 4-5 times a week in a warm environment.
Just think what you have time and love for.
I love all of mine!! But I am disabled and have extra time.
Good luck...

I agree with the other answers. Choose a pet according to your personality. Decide how much time and effort you want to put into having a particular pet. I've had fish, didnt like the cleanup. Have a cat, she is low maintenance, is a great lap pet, tends to be aloof at times. It seems like I've always had a dog of one kind or another. Have had my weinnie dog 7yrs now. He is my buddy and goes practically everywhere with me. Just make sure that you make regular vet visits and such if you decide on a dog or cat. Try a pound or local humane society first u could save a life. Goodluck. Peace2U

This all depends on the owner. Fish are the easiest to take care of. You only have to feed them once a day, and they pretty much do the rest. Cats seem to like to do their own thing, they arent as dependent on humans for as much attention. With cats comes a litter box. (not much fun). Dogs are probably the most difficult out of the 3. Dogs require lots of attention, morning and dinner meals, and atleast 2 walks to relieve themselves. If you have a backyard its much easier to have a dog.

Depends on your schedule, if you have lots of time, get a dog, Dogs need alot of attention especuially when there pups they need out at least 3 times a day for walks, Cats are good if you work alot cause they can fend for themselves when they need to go to the washroom and stuff, Fish are for people who just dont have time for our 4 legged friends.

Cat, they are independent, can be left alone for a couple days without makin 'messes', if raised right will be as loyal and obedient as a dog, soft, don't soak you when they lick you, very very intelligent (just one example, laser lights, a cat knows where the red dot comes from and play with the red dot for fun, a dog, will dig into your carpet trying to find that little red thing that seems to keep evading it, i could give you many more examples),

Cats are a pain in the butt. They act like spoiled brats that will not eat food "finicky"
Dogs are great!! They are very loyal to there owner and show alot of love. Cant go wrong with a dog, but you must also love it too and not just "have one because...""
Fish... Yawn.... There about as fun as ...watching fish in a fish tank.

taking on any kind of pet requires responsiblity. with a fish you must keep the h2o clean and cost money up at first :dogs need lots of attension ,love and cost money, cat dont requireas much attendsion only want loving on their time not yours and cost money. basicly do you have time meaning staying home alot the patience to train, and money. do you homework first about each one to see which suit your life sytle first.

I have cats and I adore them. Granted they do not protect you like a dog but you can take them for walks with proper leashes and medication (such as Advantage for fleas, ticks, and other bugs). Also they love to fit into any nook and cranny to be next to you. So if you want a warm, fuzzy, purring blanket, get yourself a cat.

dogs because they can lay down with you when you're sad, cause they can mean more to you then a new born baby, because they are man's best-friend.
