For those who keep asking why some conservatives don't go to Iraq, it is because they all don't need to come here yet. We have really big bombs if worse comes to worse... and what would happen to your paycheck if all the conservatives suddenly left you there? So, think about that, and then if you still find hypocrisy among conservatives, consider the OVERWHELMING political divide in our military: http://www.militarycity.com/polls/2003_chart2.php

When I joined, I noticed that nearly everyone was a Conservative . That was 26 years ago . I did not understand how or why it worked out that way until much later in life . Now I see it clearly . A Conservative puts 'love of country, loyalty, and sacrifice' ahead of personal interests !!
Of course that does not apply 100% of the time, but like the polls and research show, it is true 93% of the time !!

There are many very valid reasons that the military is comprised mainly by conservatives. The first that comes to mind is a pretty simple one; Conservatives SUPPORT the military and know that it's a necessary part of our government. By pure and simple reflection of our most recent presidents and their policies towards our military we see that when a conservative president is in power, the living conditions, benefits and pay that our military members are receiving generally all go up. Take the last two for example. Clinton literally systematically demolished our military; scaling back on recruitment, disbanding entire brigades, lowering pay rates, supporting bills that are detrimental to the military, and many more.
Bush, on the other hand, has given a pay raise to our service members every year he's been in office, he's supported bills that have made our troops lives easier, he's raised health care standards and made it more accessible.
Just looking at these two polar opposites is a very good indicator as to why the political divide is so large. Someone said that there are "closet liberals" but this is not entirely true because other polls that have been participated in by a much larger percentage of the military reflect the same exact thing. Their called national elections. If there truly are liberals in hiding then you'd think they'd at least vote liberal. They don't. It's no secret that the military votes republican, and, if you consider the polar opposite of the tendencies of the two parties it's not hard to see why.
Another reason that conservatives are more apt to join the military is because if we were to take a poll on what peoples individual feelings were about our COUNTRY we would find that conservatives, as a whole, are more patriotic and consider national defense a staple. BECAUSE of this we join the military.
We can also look at the differences in the personal philosophies of liberals and conservatives. Liberals, in general, are of the "free love" "world peace" "save the planet" mentallity. They believe that we can and should have these things. Conservatives, in general, think that the world is dark and dangerous place that doesn't always play be the rules. Sure we would love to have world peace, but that's not the way the world works, and, because of this theology, we feel as though we must defend ourselves and our way of life from those who would mean to destroy us.
There are many more reasons that I'd need an entire book to describe in detail. Either way, I like the idea that I serve in the worlds LARGEST all VOLUNTEER army. If they don't want to volunteer, but still insist on acting as if they have some type of formal knowledge, let them. It is that exact right that we are protecting.

There are some liberals who understand they have to walk the and walk rather than talk the talk.
A majority of liberals are great talking about freedoms, people right to vote, taking care of planet Earth and helping the poor.
Yet this 7% represent those who know that freedom is not free and someone has to stand up to the evil that is denying people the right to vote.
When you look at the reality when it turns our that Conservative Christians by far give more in their own time and money to help the poor.
Also compare houses Al Gore and Bush's homes and see who really is green and does his best rather than talk about it.
Liberals talk a good game but it is the consrvatives that are doing it with out the fan fare liberals demand.

A person with Liberal Beliefs is less inclined to join the military, but the ones that do are usually there for the free education, health care etc and as soon as it is time to do what the military is intended to do, they are the few that go AWOL or all of a sudden become dissenters that's when left groups like Veterans for Peace trot them out like they are a majority.
What really frustrates the left is that the Military is not like the Vietnam era troops and join their chorus of dissent and actually proud to serve.

What is interesting is that fewer people labeled themselves as liberals than called themselves Democrats. I was surprised that the number of military who still do not agree with the don't ask don't tell policy which was Hillary's first initiative.

Simple. 93% of the military knows that the liberals in this country want them to fail, or at least don't approve of them. They know that liberals have a very elitist view of them as being uneducated, rejects that couldn't get a job any other way. Conservatives know better and have a better appreciation for what they are doing and who the are.

Probably because they're out there doing the fighting...& there are what's called "closet liberals", believe me, not every soldier agrees with what's going on in Iraq. Liberals are viewed as a negative is in the military, so anyone with a different point of view may be ostracized, especially with the tension that is going on now. Also, since most of our country leans towards being conservative, that could also be a good reason.

Because they're only 18, and haven't had time to mature, yet. Give them time, they'll see their error, when they see the Liberals spit on them, like in Vietnam.

Liberals wouldn't make it out of boot camp. They whine and complain way too much. If they don't get instant gratification from something, they quit.
It takes a special person to be in the military. It takes dedication to your country, love, and self worth in order to become a hero. Liberals are way too selfish.
