If you are in the U.S., you will get a drink made from Irish Whiskey (the alcoholic part), sugar, and coffee that is served in a cup with whipped cream. I am of Irish heritage, and I prefer my 'Irish coffee' the way it was 'originally served' in Ireland ... pour a cup of coffee and 'top it off' with an ounce or two of Irish whiskey or 'poteen' (which is made from potato skins and is 'illegal' the same way 'moonshine' is in the U.S.).
