It all started with ancient civilizations like the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Mayans, Incas, Mesopotamians...astrology is about as old as civilization itself.

There are different forms of Astrology, and they are all thousands of years old. The type practiced by most people has a lot of elements of Greek and Roman mythology, but I think it was probably invented in India or more likely, Persia (Iran).
Astrology is popular in India among Hindus, especially when looking for someone to marry or choosing the time and date of the wedding. I wonder about Persia because the ancient religion of Zoroastrianism focused a lot on stars--a lot of historians agree that the 3 wise men of the Bible were Zoroastrian priests following a star they believed to part of their own religious prophecy. The Persians had a lot of contact with India and with ancient Greece and Rome as well.

Well, I just found a website that says it started in Mesopotamia (Iraq, Babylonia), I provided the link below.

Whether the Greeks can be given credit for inventing astrology depends on: (1) your definition of the word “astrology”; and (2) whether prior civilizations engaged in activities which seem to fit that definition. It appears that modern astrology resulted from the blending of the religious, scientific and philosophical beliefs of many cultures over many centuries.

No chance of finding the origin of astrology. Way too far back in pre-history.

Astrology is still in Indian culture today, and still going strong. It is embarrasing to admit that they still actually teach it in universities, in spite of the best efforts of their government since independence to promote rational Humanism.

Astrology may have originated in campfire storytelling when people of the Middle East had long evenings to fill. But they considered their astrologers to have access to knowledge unavailable to others, so they called them "magi" - the alleged possessors of hidden knowledge.

The Three Wise Men of the biblical Nativity story were astrologers. A correct translation of the gospel story is "We in the east saw his star". The Magi were from Chaldea, way east of Canaan in Iraq. The Chaldeans could do mathematical calculations when nobody else had that skill, so they were known for their ability to cast horosopes. The Chaldeans were able to make a good living at it.

Later civilizations, such as those of Greece and Rome, were appallingly superstitious, and paid way too much attention to astrology.
