I like to know how text messages/news on the TV is done?

Everyday I read text on my TV I wonder how is done. I assume is like internet you press the number it goes to...or.... what? But no site address.

Email BBC, CNBC, CNN, Fox News, or any other news channel and asked their technical service personnel on how the news text is done. I am sure that they would answer you.
