Your "legal" copy of XP home wont be legal on someone elses computer, unless it has NEVER been opened. If it has never been opened take it back where you bought it. You wont get money for XP Home. Throw it away or give it away.

Get the Disk manufactures utility disk, and do a low level format. IE write zeros to each and every bit. then save the Hard drive, sooner or later your going to need a hard drive.
Re Windows XP Home. I have a legal copy also, I have loaded it and re-loaded it seven times due to crashes and rebuilds. I had to call Microsoft to get it to register, after three or four re-loads, but there was no problem.

Just open the box and remove the hard drive. Have fun BASHING IT to bits with a huge hammer.
Try a different auction website that does not charge a posting fee. http://www.eptop.com or http://www.bidville.com
Good luck

there's a free program called 'KILL DISK' i think. google for it and download it. you can boot from CD after you burn KILL DISK on to a CD (on a separate computer, obviously).
you have to press F2 during boot up and choose boot from CD. if you can't even do that, you need to find the original boot disk that came with your computer when you purchased it to boot it up and choose boot from CD to run KILL DISK.

Get yourself a really strong magnet and leave it on your old HDD, that's how they work.
