The Year 2000 problem (also known as the Y2K problem, the millennium bug, and the Y2K Bug) was the result of a practice in early computer program design that caused some date-related processing to operate incorrectly for dates and times on and after January 1, 2000. It caused widespread concern that critical industries (such as electricity or finance) and government functions would cease operating at exactly midnight, January 1, 2000, and on other critical dates which were billed as "event horizons". This fear was fueled by the attendant press coverage and other media speculation, as well as corporate and government reports. People who understand how computers work recognized that finely tuned systems could get "confused" when the 97, 98, 99, ?? ascending numbering assumption suddenly became invalid. Companies and organizations world-wide checked and upgraded their computer systems. The preparation for Y2K thus had a significant effect on the computer industry. No significant computer failures occurred when the clocks rolled over into 2000. Debate continues on whether the absence of computer failures was the result of the preparation undertaken or whether the significance of the problem had been overstated.

Not even. I don't know if you remember Y2K or not, but it was a lot worse than this. Uncle Sam was paying overtime to any computer geek who could hold a pen just to insure the systems wouldn't turn back to 1888 or something, and they risk all that money that they extort from people ever year. Well, that and the FBI/CIA/Homeland security files on every American, so they can falsely charge them of being terrorists at some point. For 2012, and all the other hoax 'end of time' stunts that are being played, they couldn't care less. For that matter, they haven't even bother to load a space shuttle up for Obama and all them, for when the asteroid heads toward earth and they can't nuke it, like they've been predicting since the late 1970s or so (publicly). All you have to do is watch these ants work, and you will see if there is anything to worry about. We still have nuclear fallout shelters left from the 1950s, just for the government types, not the poor citizens. This was a risk with the Bay of Pigs, and Cuba, way back under Kennedy, and they're not gone yet. So, wouldn't they be the ones to watch IF there was anything else going to happen? You see, in ANY government, the people are expendable, but they must protect the government, so it can rule the corpses left rotting afterward. This is 'acceptable losses' as they say, and they don't care. Don't worry. The poor Mayans couldn't see their own future, so why would they have seen this? Or, maybe they did, and took the first alien shuttle off the mud ball before it was controlled by psychotic apes.

Honey, hate to break it to you, but that was all in 1999 that was kicking off. I don't remember much because i was 12 at the time but all the computers and stuff weren't set for the year 2000 and were supposedly meant to not function with the 2000 digits.

When 32k happens we will be lonnnnnggg dead so forget about it!

y2k.is year 2000. there was a panic in1999 that the datas stored in computers in 20th century would be lost in jauary of 21st century.wheresoever it was written as 49 for 1949 would be redundant in year beginning 2000.banking sector was more worried. however microsoft and perhaps other software companies developed softwaresand stored the entire data of 2oth century which were transyerred to 21st century . it was a smooth transition.
people may beapprehensive of similar situation at the close of 21st century. but the computers have brought a rewvolution now.nothing to worry.

Year 2000 was a big fear that the computers would think it was 1900, not 2000 and the whole world would collapse

Year 2000. Won't have another.

Maybe have some computers not be able to handle the early time change this year, but I'm not worried.

Y2K wasn't nearly as bad as they'd predicted. I doubt that this one will be, eiither.

We will have a Y3K soon enough. That is when I will have my crygenically frozen body unthawed. It would be just my luck if the freezer thaws me out a year early and all that is left is a mass of rotting flesh.
