If man had his way, he would have more than one wife. What do you think ? This is an equal opportunity vote.

I don't think so. Because if I want more than one woman i just go out with alot of girls. Having a wife is a huge step up from that and I would only want one wife. Having only one person to share your life with on that level makes you take the time to find that perfect partner. If you could have more than one then you would probably just find different people who each meet one specific need instead of one person who does it all. That would make the whole idea of marriage or committed relationships alot less important. By the way, I'm sure that there are some guys who feel differently about this than I do but I'm also sure that there are just as many women who would have more than one husband if they had it their way (equal opportunity).

If you assume polygamy (1 man : Multiple women) in a permanent and proprietary relationship where the woman must remain exclusively monogamous with him, then no, men are not polygamous.

First, most men lack the resources to support multiple women without the women contributing.

In any situation where the women have the means to leave if they want to it means they will probably do better to seek out a man they won't have to share (resources and time) with other women.

Second, most men lack the health and attractiveness to warrant the attention of multiple women permanently.

Third, men get more of a rush out of a NEW partner instead of a repeated small variety. This provokes men to want to try someone new...

...not necessarily keep them.

If you assumed that these relationships are not permanent or exclusive for either man or woman, then yes, men and women are polygamous when their survival needs are met.

Yes. We are destined to be, it is in our genes. I love watching discovery channel, and it said one very important thing about monogamy. When we were primates, the female began with jealousy, wanting their man for themselves. Males never had a choice to poly or mono, we forced to be monogamous out off fear.fast forward 10000 years or so and women are still the ones that get clingy to men and want a man for themselves. That is why men cheat more than women and women get jealous much easier than men. Personally I don't like marriage, but if I could i'd have more than one wife.

I don't think most men would choose to have more than one wife. That's too much responsibility. Men would much rather have no-strings-attached sex with as many women as they possibly can. It's about SEX. It's not about marriage and responsibility and having a life with someone. I go so far as to think that most men don't want to marry, period. But family and social pressure makes them feel like they have to get married and settle down. I think men in general just want sex, and that's it. Nothing more.

It is biological. Men are programed to spread their seed as far and wide as possible. 1000 years ago an upstart religion decided that you could only have one wife. You could have all the sex you wanted as long as it was in a church liscenced brothel - they have since cut that part out - but only one wife. Man was not made to be that way.

When its all about sex, even girls might like more than one guy and some do, at the same time. However the fact that we have diseases unwanted pregancies etc from that kind of behavior tells me we are more than mere animals.Outside of the bedroom is another matter.Smouldering jealousy bewteen rival wives and children for the affection of the husband and father.Think of when they are ALL mad at you at the same time.No thank you.One woman is just fine for me.

YEA, men would LOVE having more women around - less chance any of them would complain about being overworked and underpaid! These women would have to be EXTREMELY generous and open minded about sharing, which most women are NOT when it comes to their man....... I cannot image being "one of many", and would never entertain the idea of having more than one HUSBAND - I would never do it and don't have any respect for those who do -

Man, I don't think I could handle more than one wife. I can barely handle the one I've got. I couldn't imagine another one trying to spend all my money. Hell, polygamy is too expensive.

I don't think so...they may fantasize about it and might like to 'try it on' for a while but I think deep down inside, most men would want one gal for life. I mean, when a man grows up, like in his 40's/50's.

We don't want many wives, we just want many women to have sex with. We may want 1 wife to be the mother of our children, but as far as having more than one "legal and binding contract" with more than one woman freaks me out, personally. Variety is the spice of most mens imagination. It's not that we want to "cheat" we just like having sex with hot chicks...nothing personally to "the one" who wants us to be true to only them. They just don't see it the same was us guys do.
