Often, if i press down, it goes onto select, and i have to press it numerous times for it to go left, up, right or down. I really want to avoid taking it to a repair centre, as it's most likely i'll end up paying quite a bit. Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

if you're technically inclined you can cleaned the contacts yourself, switched off the phone, removed the backcover (battery side), use the no. 6 tox(star) driver to remove the 2 screws at the base of the phone & 2 more (philip) holding the back panel(camera), then remove the front panel, use cleaning alcohol to clean all the contacts, wait for it to dry & assemble, be careful when opening the covers, do not use force, there are many interlocking lugs that needs gentle prying to take them apart

there's actually nothing wrong about bringing your phone into a repair shop for as long as you can see how they estimate or chek up your phone.try to ask first what is the first-aid remedy.for sure, they might say it only requires cleaning.if so, lthen congratulations, however what s the next option if cleaning isnt the answer? ask the technician if he can repair it only before REPLACING it coz replacing the joystik/scroll will cost you maybe around 500pesos if they use the origanal ones.look for a trusted establishment or service center but where you could also have the freedom to ask the details abt your phone, surely where you can pip how they do it on ur phone so u have the idea what is being done.i think 90% that there is nt any software to repair the scrollstik of ur unit....it needs manual intervention!
