EVER is a very long time. It may. I remember when Pele came to the US and played for the NY Cosmos; we was supposed to be the man that would lead soccer into the headlines and be equal to baseball and American football in the minds of the fans. It has not happened yet. Turns out he came here because he was too old to compete in the soccer "big leagues" any more, just like David Beckham 30 years later.
Over the past 30 years it has grown, but it is still a distant 5th behind hockey (which is a distant 4th) within the major league team sports. Our population has changed; immigrants from Central and South America as well as Europe will continue to make Soccer grow in the US. But I think we are still many, many decades away from the sport being even to football, baseball, or basketball.

I have a hard time believing that soccer could ever be as popular as those 2. One of the reasons that soccer is so popular in the rest of the world is because the lack of availabilty of other sports like we have in the US. I played soccer through high school and enjoyed it, however its a pretty boring game to watch when compared to football, basketball, or baseball. When a 3 -1 game is considered high scoring..you've got problems (that goes for nhl as well).

Everton have had a good season, and by all accounts Moyes is one of the most astute managers going around. He has had the must success with his choices - and not big money choices either - with his transfers. Arteta, Cahill, Yakubu are good. James Vaughan is only 19, and even though he had injuries when starting his career, he looks to have skill, pace, a good work rate etc - so I expect Everton to be keeping close to the 4 and get a spot in Europe on of the 5 years. Remember they did finish 4th only a couple of years ago and were only denied a Champions League spot (and the money) because Liverpool who were 5th actually won the the thing that year. I always consider Newcastle to be a big sleeper. They can get the money. Of the major cities, London, Liverpool and Manchester have the big teams - newcastle have history and a large fan base, so could be a target, but always a sleeping giant. Personally I miss Leeds and there fanatical fan base as well. if the money is sorted out - there is no reason why a big overseas investor wont prop them back as they do have history and a following. maybe not the next 5 years, but they can make it back. Spurs maybe. london can probably support 3 big teams - but maybe not. So Newcastle and Everton in the short term - my crystal ball says Leeds will eventually comeback - and the league will be better for it.

It could eventually, but I believe it will take at least another 3 to 4 generations. I do actually love to watch it especially when the World Cup is on.

I doubt it. I do wish they would show it more often. I'd like to see it replace basketball.
