I am 38 wks pregnant and 5 days ago I was 1 cm 50% eff. Lastnight I had contractions for 3 hours about 10 15 min apart, but then I went back to sleep and they went away. depending on how I was lying the pain would be worse. Is it possible it could be something and maybe I should go ahead and go get checked. I had a sharp pain in my low back with the contractions. I dont know what to do. I dont have the pain right now

This is normal for where you are in pregnancy. You dont need to call your doctor until they are regular and progressively stronger, and until they are 5-6 minutes apart. From the start of one to the start of another. Thats how you time them.

I went on like this, just like you, from 36 to 40 weeks.

Call your OB if you have concerns.

I had the same kind of thing happen when I was ready to deliver my son. It was probably false labor, however if you have any doubts or are not feeling well, get checked. You might also be experiencing back labor which can be rather painful.

Go ahead and get checked. It happened to me and it turns out I was almost fully dilated and had my baby a little bit later.

Call your health care provider. That's what you hired her/him for. Do you think anyone here would know better/

Well, there's nothing wrong with calling your doctor to ask.
