it is a question that i need answering, i know it is dumb but plz.

It keeps them away from the sun

They are very heavy and so sink to the bottom

But watch out if they are under a bridge and you come trip-trapping over the bridge! Make sure you can lay your hands on a big billy goat gruff!

This is unclear, since modern science has not been able to study trolls.
When Beowulf hunted Grendel's mother, he traveled downward half a day through the water, apparently without breathing gear.
It is my belief that Grendel and his mother were trolls; they clearly were not human even though human ancestry is attributed to them.
Perhaps there is a magical method of breathing under water, which can be used by humans as well as trolls.

Trolls do NOT live under water. They do sometimes live under the bridge that goes over the water as well as other secrect places in dense forrests. Jeesh, get your stories straight.
