awesome question!
short version answer? wait unless you check again and/or there is futher change
reasoning/longer answer;
I understand the dilema.. having been there myself many times now... but, correct me if I am wrong... two days ago you checked and you were one centimeter and soft (I assume the cervix was long and soft? not gone?) yesterday you were what sounds closer to two but may not have been? and still long soft?
nothing new today though?
is that right so far?
all normal... all things that go on daily... only most women do not know.. not as sensitive, in tune.. and some too grossed out to check for themselves.... I know.. until my midwife bugged me enough... I was.... during my second pregnancy I would call for the pains, spotting, contractions.... she would bug me when I would call though and tell me to check myself.... after the third time, I finally did... and was able to give her concise details.... anyway.....
the plug/show whatever the dr. calls it you can/we can pass without ever knowing or seeing it.... I also found out during one pregnancy that your body can, and does, actually grow them again if labor is too slow... my dr checked me once and said "thinned effaced 80% two cenitmeters and note no show" to the nurse to me he said "you look great.. see you later tonight maybe?" left happy... two, three days passed and I had to go in.. he checked again.. this time he told the nurse "long, thick... maybe half a centimeter... if I stretch it... plug in place" WHAT? two days ago?! huh? he had to explain it all to me...
that is the very reason I thought to tell you wait it out, unless you are having more changes...
do not even worry yourself about "show or no" it is such a minor part... it is just that it is one of so few physical parts of labor that we can point to and say "see, I AM having a baby... not just getting fat or tons of gas!" lol so we cling to it anyway...
the dilating unfortunately can and does change too... but; as soon as you get to either three or four (for me it is in between) you hit the magic of active labor... until then, up and down... slowly..... the baby pushing on the cervix and being on your feet long hours will do it.. so try and stay reclined sitting with your feet up is what I found best... with so many pillows people are just not sure if you are comfortable or not... since no one position is comfy at this point, I know.... drink your juice and count kicks if you feel up to it.. not sure the age of your eldest... so an activity you can do with him/her....? reading, coloring... watch another disney flick...lol.... :)
key points are stay relaxed... do not walk around too much.... and if there is any further dilating call dr.... other than that..? do not stress or worry<---two of the biggest culprits in problems during labor....
good luck
thank you for listening.. hope I was able to help out

With my second son I was diliated at 2cm for 2 mths before I had him. You can start to diliate early obvousily way before you deliver. Also you may not notice if your mucas plug came out, with my first son I never knew if or when it did. With my second I did only cause I happened to look in the toliet after urinating and there it was and by 6:29 that evening he was born. I personally would stop checking myself if I was you. You don't want to risk an infection or mess with your cervix, it could cause you to go into preterm labor which I'm sure that's something you don't want. I suggest calling your dr telling her what you told us and let her tell you exactly what to do whether it be go see her asap or wait until your next appt. Whatever you decide good luck and congrats!!

Wait until your next appointment and let them check and make the desicion. You could be dialating but more people even with second and third children dialate and stop and hang out at one spot for a while. Just wait unless you start bleeding or having contraction, or feel a lot of presure in you pelvic region. Good Luck.

I was 2cms dialated at thirty weeks and because my baby was apparently going to be small and I have very quick labours (two delivered at home by me with no ambulance or midwife) I had to have steriod injections to strenghten the baby's lungs and have complete rest. As it turned out, the baby was born at 40wks + 8 days and weighed 7lbs 3ozs!
I wouldn't examine yourself but see your doctor as soon as possible just to make sure everythings going ok.
Good luck!

I would call your doctor and see what he thinks is best.
Its not something I would want to mess around with.
Doing self exams is a great way to monitor your cervix. However, messing with a cervix during preterm pregnancy is something doctors dont even do, unless they must.
You can irritate the cervix, cause it to thin and open, and even cause irritation and infection. Nothing something to fool around with when pregnant.
In fact, the growing practice these days is to check the cervix position and state with ultrasound instead of internal exams, atleast until 36+ weeks.
I'd leave yourself alone until then, and call your doctor.

I would call your doctor and see what he thinks. Sometime you can start to dialate a little early, and stay ot 2 cm for weeks.

I wouldn't worry until you lose the mucous plus. It does happen to some women.
