Right click on the object or file you want to cut or paste. You will see this options in the drop down menu. Keep one thing in mind tho! When you cut, you will delete the object! If you simply want to make a copy of a file and put it somewhere else, use copy and paste instead! This is usually what I do and keeps you from deleting files accidently. You can use these options in text files too! When you use the cut or copy command, the data is stored into what is called the clipboard. It remains there until the PC is turned of or you cut or copy another item.

for files:- right click on the icon and select cut then go to the place you wish to paste to ....e.g another folder and right click and select paste the icon should appear in that folder
for text, highlight the text by holding the left mouse button and dragging over it and do the same thing
when text is highlighted pressing ctrl+x will cut it, ctrl+v will paste it to where the text cursor is ( these shortcuts can be used for files too when they are selected with a single mouse click)

If you right click on the item you want to copy/cut with your mouse, a small white menu comes up on the screen. Left click on copy or cut. (the menu disappears-you have copied this item) Go to the place you wish it to be, right click (to bring up the small menu again) left click on paste and the item should be transferred. A quicker way though is to use ctrl-c for copy and ctrl-v for paste. Hope this helps.

Before you can "cut", you need to "copy" something first, so hold the CTRL+C keys, and that will "copy" whatever it is into your Clipboard. Then go to where you want this text to appear, and hold the CTRL+V, which is the "paste" part.
