I ask this because im a reference librarian, and all day long at work, i see people who use the library just for computers. They even go to them before they go to books-which have better information and its more reliable

Let me add that most (95%) of these people just use them to play games and go on my space. For instance, im at work now and all the computers that are filled now are like this. I have only gotten computer calls today since ive been here, and the majority of my day is spent helping with computer sign on, even though there is one line on the computer screen that tells you how to do it, but no one even bothers to read that.
I dont mind when someone is doing research, but these morons just use us for games it seems

I have three book-cases in my living room, I was just looking at all my books and thought, I care so much for each and every one of those books, my dictionary and encyclopedia are almost worn out from years of research.
Now days, I walk over to the computer, put the question in and can read any and everything in the world on it. I am amazed at this technology, it has sped things up, but like you, I feel a deep loss for the way that books have taken a back seat so to speak. I also notice this trend with hand written letters. Sad.

I completely disagree with you. The Internet has allowed people far greater (quicker, easier, more diverse) access to knowledge than books ever could. Online bookstores like Amazon have made it easier to find the kinds of books that you might like and to read the opinions of other readers. This has increased reading (and indeed writing) and boosted sales for the book world.

Actually, you can read books on a computer. I love paper-books, but we should also embrace technology.
