I think it is a cool thing. What I don't want to happen is for them to try and sexify it--make it into a Powderpuff thing.

My hope is that it will gain popularity in the same way women's basketball has. In some ways I think that women's basketball is more entertaining for everyone--men and women--than is the current version of professional men's basketball.

I think--women's might work the same way--perhaps it could become more of an open play--perhaps they could tinker with some of the rules to make it more free wheeling.

It needs to get publicizied. I was shocked to find out that it existed unitl yesterday--and I am a person who keeps up on women's stuff--and sports too.

Women need to support it--as it continues to develop. It should be heavily marketed in that way.

Realistically, I think the best women's football can hope for is that it attains the same level of recognition of women's tennis. Although women's tennis is seen as subordinate to the men's game, but it still draws big crowds.

How to achieve this? Try and get sponsors - if some big companies would ge involved the media might take more notice. I think that the national team need to be more prominent in the media too. Apart from the Doncaster Belles (which isn't a helpful name as it makes the team sound like a dainty group of women having a nice time) I really know little about the game, and certainly don't know any of the players.

Either away, the work needs to be targeted at girls whilst they're still young.

Our school's senior boys team could beat the women's world best team...Women's football is a second class game, any men's Sunday league team would beat the Arsenal women's team.I've no quarrel with them playing football just like boys' under 15s football..just keep it in perspective..they are a million miles from the proper(men's) game.
And women STILL claim to be equal...ho-hum.
Minnieme..Don't you mean 'no women's team can touch them'..our school (boys') team could thrash them.

Are we talking football or soccer.

Soccer: as more young girls actually play the sport the professional sport will be more popular. It is like advertising principals. Hook them when they are small and they will always buy your product even if it is the exact same as a less expensive brand.

There's not much difference between men and womens soccer really.
From what I have seen of professional soccer lately, they are mostly a set of big girls blouses.

Wear skirts, like they do in hockey etc., and get rid of those knee length baggy shorts.
With the proper kit on, who cares how they play.

(Only kidding, before the PC brigade turn up in their droves)
