Go in with an open mind and remember that if you were to go into labor then there is no telling what doctor would be on call. Make it a point to talk to them and express your cares and concerns with them this Will make them remember you and you will have a chance to get to know them. I go to an ob office that has five doctors and two nurse practitioners. There are one or two that I do not care for but I would trust any of them to deliver my baby. I do have a favorite and this is the one that I picked to do my repeat c-section. Just keep an open mind and a positive attitude about the whole thing and if in a few months ou don't like it then you can always switch but then you have to get use to another doctor(s).

I also had to see every doctor that worked in the same office as my doctor. It had taken me a long time to find a doctor I was comfortable with, so I was not thrilled by the idea. I talked to him about it and he said that if I really didn't want to see the others that I could just see him. He explained that the reasoning for seeing all the doctors are:
1) If my doctor was unavailable one of the other doctors would deliver my baby and he wanted me to be comfortable with each of them
2)Every doctor has had different experiences-one doctor might notice something with your pregnancy that others wouldn't
I decided to see each of the doctors and didn't really care for one so I told my doctor and I didn't have to see that one again. My doctor ended up delivering my baby, but now I know of two other doctors that I am comfortable with so if my doctor quits practicing or is on vacation I can see one of them and know I'll be comfortable!
Congratulations on your pregnancy!

If you don't like the idea then you still have LOTS of time to find another doctor...the reason they have you see everyone at least once in a joint practice setting is so that you are familiar with all of the doctors...they don't just share a practice they share labor and delivery hours too, so you never know who is going to be "on call" when you go into labor...you could deliver with any of the doctors and it's in your best interest and comfort to have at least met all of them...

My doctor's office has two doctors in it and their policy is for every woman to see both of them, one at every other visit. That way, if one happens to be on call when the woman goes into labor, he won't be a stranger to her. With my first, I was at an office like yours, with seven doctors. I got to see the same doctor every time, but when I went into preterm labor three times, I saw a different on call doctor at the hospital every time, none of which was my regular doctor. I hated that, and was glad to find out that my regular doctor was moving his practice and followed him to where he is now. If it makes you uncomfortable to see so many doctors, I would definately find another office. Can you go back to the same doctor you had with your first? I would recommend trying that, if possible. It's best to be comfortable with your doctor and it's never a problem to find a new one if you don't like the one you're seeing now. Good luck and congratulations.

They want you to meet all the docs just so you can get to know them in case they are who's on call and delivers your baby. It sounds worse than what it is. I have 3 children and only one time I got my regular doc. All the doctors will be informed of your medical history.

I would ask them if there is a possibility for you to just see one doctor, for your comforts sake! Besides your the patient its ultimately up to you.
