Is there a way to know if a hotmail account is still active?

If there's someone you lost contact of, and you wanna know if they're still using their account, is there a way to know?

You can send an email to the account. If it gets returned to you undeliverable then you at least know the account is still on and working, but it will not tell you if the person is still using the account. Hope that helps
