You should go to an emergency room and get the doctor to look at it. It might be broken or dislocated, or it might be alright. Discuss the cost of an x-ray with them.

If your finger is broken but everything is straight and there is no angulation, then you might be able to get away with just strapping your finger to the next finger (that's all that needs to be done with a broken finger if everything is in the right place).

But you seem to be describing some angulation, so I would suggest you see a doctor about it.

Take off your rings if you can, otherwise the swelling may cut off the circulation to your fingers. Use ice and ibuprofen to help the pain and swelling. If you can move and bend your finger, it's not broken, it may just be sprained. If you cannot bend or move it, it may be broken and you will need an X-ray. Not sure how much they cost, but if you don't have insurance and you go to a public hospital, they should take you.

Best wishes to you.

Sounds like you need to see a doctor, many of them can do x-rays right in the office. If cost is a concern, most doctors will let you pay over time if you discuss it with them. Your health is more important. They are not allowed to deny tratment based on your ability tro pay.

don't get an x-ray, just go to a doctor, they can probably tell and if not then at least say if u need an x-ray or not. that's a lot cheaper than getting an x-ray then a doctor.

ouch

go to your physican if they have a x-ray there but if not just go to the ER. the only way to tell for sure if it is broken is to get a x-ray so you should do that.

good luck
