it seems as if you cannot say anything without immediately being labeled as a con or a lib.. why cant you just be a person with an opinion on a topic?

it seems like two teams have been created in america, and apparently everyone with an opinion is on one of them.. idk about you, but i havent joined either.. and if i have to be on one of them, where the hell is my jersey and membership card? and will the card give me any special discounts anywhere?

i think the only people who benefit from this situation are the politicians and political pundits with radio and tv shows who are able to use this situation to stop discussion on important issues.. people no longer can simply think about the issues without the fear of being labeled into a category they may not even consider themselves.. and when it comes time to vote, less emphasis is put on things like the war and the fact that we wont have social security, and more on things like gay marriage and stem cells

That's a great question. It's certainly unfortunate that having an opinion automatically dumps you into one of the camps - liberal or conservative - but that's how it is in this country. Everything is labeled, right or wrong, for identification purposes. And yes, you're absolutely right about there being two teams in America. To disagree with someone can sometimes bring down a wrath of shocking animosity directed toward you. You don't dare disagree with things like global warming, stem cell research, gay marriage or the Iraq War. From either team. To do so can result in one being subjected to personal attack. Just watch the so-called experts debate on television. How often do you see a quality debate about anything without one or both groups turning it into personal attacks? Is it any wonder how come so little change is ever made in Washington? So many career politicians who still haven't figured things out. Two teams, yes indeed. Should they EVER start to compromise on ANYTHING, we might actually see some change for the better in this country.

Because it seems either Bush is a God in cons eyes or a devil in liberal's eyes. It is all abotu your opinion of the War in Iraq right now. Give it another couple years if Bush is replaced by a Dem or another 10 years if he is replaced by another Rep. Things will be different when the war is no longer an issue.

The debates are filled with a disregard for seeing that people are comparing apples to oranges all the times. We beat Iraq years ago when Saddam was removed from office and taken into custody. Some people believe we never should have gone, some believe the war ended when he was captured or he was killed, some believe it ends when we establish a new gov't there, some believe the war ends when there are no others fighting against us. We fight about this and most people over-simplify the others' position.

No, actually two teams have formed, but one is called "Team America" the other "Team defeat America". It is unfortunate that many Liberals have joined the latter team.
When America is attacked by a force of evil intent not seen since Nazi Germany, and it's own people are filled with so much hatred for their own country, this is not a good thing. It signals to the Islamofascists that the time is right to bring us all down. The choice is clear to me, I don't believe in Islam being the world government taken by sword, and I will not sit idly by as America is threatened by petty dictators like Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinijad or Hugo Chavez, or their whining lackeys in the UN who would much rather allow slavery than fight for freedom.
There was a time when both Liberals and Conservatives believed in one thing above all, that their country was a great one. What other country was founded upon a document, the constitution, that defends the rights of it's citizens rather than it's enemies above all else?
Today our universities are telling young people that America is just a country, no better and probably worse than others. Even if those countries believe in slavery, or have a lack of human rights, or that they mutilate women in the name of religion. In the same breath they teach the works of Karl Marx, under which communism killed millions in order to enslave their own people in a coffin of fear. They spit on us and our way of life. Do you get it now?

the least complicated thank you to end a controversy (on an identical time as nonetheless feeling morally better) is to label your opponent. it somewhat is why labels are so properly-known in u . s . of america. it is likewise the least complicated thank you to steer away from questioning approximately matters. once you basically have 2 possibilities to make, as a substitute of four, 5, or seven thousand, it somewhat is much less annoying on the concepts and leaves greater time for television's and SUV's. yet, it somewhat is like that around the international; it somewhat is basically extremely catching on in u . s . of america outstanding now simply by divisive political climate it is being engendered by using the non secular and political powers that be. This to shall bypass . . . yet whilst? i'm hoping it passes earlier it somewhat is too late.

It's easy to jump to conclusions in this forum. Most people are not adept at communicating solely with the written word. People depend on body language, facial expressions, and tonal inflections to express the entire message of their thoughts. Sarcasm, for instance, cannot be expressed in the written word, but many people tend to try in their postings. This leads to a lot of miscommunications.
I tend to qualify both my questions and answers by stating that I am neither a liberal nor a conservative. I am a moderate. This takes most right or left wingers off the defensive, and they express their opinions with less animosity.

I know... the need to 'label' ppl amazes me. You can search through all my questions or answers and will not find that term unless it is a legit question about being a conservative or liberal.

I use the party titles because that is what we select when we register to vote.... Republican, Democrat or Independent.

The reality is, and the reason I don't use those terms, is because it is incorrect to assume liberals are Democrats, IE Giuliani, and Republicans are conservative, IE, all the blue dog conservative democrats that were just elected last November.

It's quite ignorant and uneducated and shows a low level of intellect...

Most people are not very intellectual. Look at the message boards yahoo discontiunued because of hate spam and the news items to realize that. Our society is more focused on the corpse on Anna Nicole Smith than it is with issues of far more importance. By labeling someone a con or lib it gives simple minded people the ability to catergorize the person with an opinon

I dont agree...if your opinion leans towards one field or the other, then you must wear the label if you throw it out for others to look at....your opinion is your own but when you jump on a place like this and say"Im for taxing the middle class to pay for inner city kids to deal dope and play basketball on lighted courts at midnight" then you risk getting the label that goes with such a stupid asinine idea....if you espouse the "it takes a village" ideas of the hilldemon you also wear the label that goes with that little jewel

Because they like defining and being defined. And you are correct. But the solution is to keep forming and expressing your OWN opinions and just ignore them. Remember also that EVERYONE in the United States doesn't come here insulting people and calling them names. It's just a handful really. So, keep posting your questions and answers. and remember the 'thumbs down' button'. It's refreshing to review your answers without being constrained to reading ugly, condescending remarks from those who are just plain below you.....

Every person has the freedom of expression and it is even protected under the Constitution. You can say that you are anti-gay because it is an opinion since you do not want a man to behave like a woman. People should respect the opinions of others and not to be branded as a con or a lib.
