I'm not afraid of them, I just have made the decision not to associate with them because they advertise the fact that they have an emotional disability. If you make an effort and go out of your way to identify with a certain subculture, I don't really think you're being true to yourself or identity with who you are, but rather who hot topic wants you to be. I think it's for people who have a lack of identity who want to feel like they have one, so they spend money to try and buy one.

They think goth's are devil worshippers. The devil is scary. Hence the goth's in turn must be scary. It seems to me that alot of goth's like to be scary. Picked on and shunned by society not so much, but the goth fashion is 99% black and black is the color of night, which is feared by many because it represents unknown.

The majority of them are perfectly normal people but it's hard not to judge a book by it's cover for many.

i guess i'm only nervous around them if they are wearing all black and chains... it just reminds me of scary people in movies. also, real gothics have this bad attitude about life, they aren't very happy people. it just makes you feel uncomfortable to be around them i guess.

I dont know, i used to be friends with some goths even though i was a total prep. It just depends on who the person truly is underneath their clothes

sorry if this was sterotyping or anything..

cuz movies and books make all goths seem dangerous and scary so when you meet one in person you get nervous. But sadly this is how our society works, we judge people before we even know them.

Probably because people think that anyone who goes that much out of their way to look morbidly different must have some serious issues. 90 % of the time its just kids expressing themselves in a healthy way, but their are those rare cases of kids who cross the line from expression to devious behaviour.
