I am using the telnet service that comes as default with windows xp using command prompt. I have problem in both sending and recieving emails. For sending when i type
e.g. MAIL FROM:
i get the following message
530 authentication required
For recieving when i type
e.g. USER xyz its ok
but when i type PASS abc
i get the following error
ERR invalid user/password.

I am not relaying nor i am cracking anybody's password i am trying to access my own personal mail but the above mentioned errors occur.

Please provide me a complete solution in this regard and if i have to use some other telnet service so that this problem can be solved.

If you really have to use telnet for email I just wonder why?
But in most cases your system is not the server so be sure you specifiy username@domainname.com as the username. This depends on your email server settings but generally that is needed to properly ID the user. Most email servers accept any username at first then fail you at your password it the two cant be matched. You really need to check the server logs to see why.
