Hiya!! And congrats.... I relaxed my hair through my pregnancies and that was a couple of centuries ago!!! I should think with all the great products on the market, you should find something that will be safe. If you have a good hairdressers you can get advice from them or maybe go for a mild product or kiddies one even. Failing all that... flat irons are brilliant. Good luck!

Do you have a hairdresser you trust that you can discuss this with? Or, if you are planning to do it at home, the packaging should have any health risks on it. Personally, however, I would ask my Doctor or midwife, I trust their opinion more than any hair product manufacturer!
Good luck with your pregnancy, Honey, and you have the right idea, use this time to look after yourself, once the baby comes, for the first couple of weeks you probably won't even have time to brush your hair or wash your face!

Ask your doctor. My doctor told me I could color my hair while pregnant, but suggested I use one of the temporary at home coloring kits, to avoid the fumes and smells from the stylist.
If you decide to go ahead with it, I would try to find someone who would do it outside so that there is more ventilation and less chemicals for you to breathe. Also, your hair reacts differently when you're pregnant than when you're not, so be careful--doing the same things you did before to relax it may have no effects, or it may burn your hair up.
Good luck!

The chemicals in relaxer are so much stronger than in hair color. I dont know that I personally would, since you have to leave it on for such a long time. Its going to be one of those personal call things.
You are past the first trimester, so the biggest risk with topical chemicals is over, but still. I know many woman who do, and have no issues with it. :)
Only you can make that call though. There is no proof that is does or doesnt effect the baby.

well some of the chemicals used in coloring and other treatments arent safe for mom to inhale thus isnt safe for the baby. I am not familiar with having to relax my hair because i am lily white lol. But maybe a flat iron would help reduce the curls without any harm of nasty chemicals. Hope this helps.
Try asking your doctor too!

I haven't relaxed my hair since finding out and trust me, I really need one. I read in a book that its probably best to just leave your hair be. There is no proof that its harmful but there isn't any proof that its not either. My sister is 1 month ahead of me (which makes her as far as you) and she is still getting her hair relaxed. Good luck.

You might not want to be around those chemicals. Inhaling them might be bad for you. But you can ask your doctor to be sure.

Permanents and relaxers have not been shown to cause birth defects or pregnancy problems, but further research is needed."
