I agree that it is first rate television but not that it should go on and on. The premise of the programme is that Sam is either in a coma, gone mad or has really travelled back in time. How much longer could they keep this up before this premise would start to weaken and the programme would start losing viewers? Look at classics like Fawlty Towers, The Office, Only Fools and Horses - these stand the test of time because they quit whilst they were ahead. There is a saying that you should always leave the audience wanting more - that's why LOM should stick to two series.
On a previous answer on a similar subject I said that there is to be a spin-off series with DCI Hunt in it where he plays the same character but after Sam leaves. I saw in other answers that it is called Ashes to Ashes and it will also have Annie in it too. Can't wait.

Life on Mars is so amazingly fantastic I have watched every episode and can't bear to think that it will be coming to a complete end at the end of series 2 - surely they will be able to engineer another accident for Sam - or have him travel back in time whenever he falls asleep at night. It reminds me so much of my childhood - the clothes, the cars, the language, the sexism, the testcard, it is fabulous and so very accurate. It amazes me that they have managed to find so many locations unchanged over the past 30 years and that they have so many cars from that period still running smoothly... I also think Phil Glenister is brilliant as Sam's boss - he could come and order me about any day.
I thought the education tv on this weeks episode was hilarious - especially when Sam said the bearded boffin would be replaced by Lorraine Kelly in a few years time - so clever, so funny

this is by using a techniques the best comedy/drama the BBC have accomplished in years! i like it. I rewatched the sequence some circumstances on Bravo too - won't have the ability to get sufficient of it. The scene interior the 1st episode the place he's approximately to bounce of the roof became into shot on precise of a construction next to that which my mom works in. She took a lot of snaps and got here abode and we've been pondering why the heck somebody became into status on the fringe of the roof lol, purely to rewarded with an answer whilst the sequence began. shame they're cutting it to easily 2 sequence nonetheless. :(
