Of course we all have opinions and mine is that they are psychics and I say this only after reading the documentation and/or proof of psychic's who predict the future and those things actually happen and cannot be argued. On the other hand, some that are so called "prophets of doom" get it so wrong, so many times. So, I suppose it's how each person is open to many possibilities....or not. I believe that prophets are psychic and psychics are prophets. Thank You.

prophets- predict the future and other messages from God.

-a prophet is God's spokes person.

example: the prophet Nathan, he was sent from God during King David's adultery. Nathan told David that he has been sinning, then the prophet spoke to David about things that happened in the past and the future.

-the Bible has 100-1000 prophecies. examples: the messiah coming (aka Jesus Christ), Alexander the Great, so on...

-at the time of the Bible false prophets were killed

Now where am i going with this? Well, as you can tell a prophet is a follower of God the Father, a righteous person, and does not follow evil. PSYCHICS are actually not prophets at all. They are followers of Satan and they bring messages from Satan. Main difference is the where the message is being carried from. Prophets from God (the one and only God) are saved. Psychics are demon possessed people, and Jesus was sometimes mistaken as a demon possessed person also... but it was not true. Now in this question that exactly what your calling a prophet. Heres what Jesus would say when he was accused (this is what a prophet's answer would be to this question as well):

John 8:49
"I am not possessed by a demon," said Jesus, "but I honor my Father and you dishonor me.

In general definition, as I understand it... No, a prophet is not a psychic. Without getting into my own personal beliefs, a prophet gets their inspiration from a single source. A greater being inspires, guides or directly communicates with the prophet. A psychic is someone who is open to a wider range of influences and may be able to receive their inspiration from natural events. The term psychic can also be applied to many disciplines attributed to psychics. Abilities such as psychometry and others are in the psychics realm.

To call a prophet a psychic is to diminish the source of their inspiration. To call a psychic a prophet is to attribute greater purpose to their ability.

Just my opinion.

These are two different types of superpowers.I guess a Prophet could be a psychic.I'm not so sure about a psychic being a prophet though. It's like Superman and the Flash.Superman can run super-fast but the Flash doesn't have X-ray vision.See what I mean?

There are lower psychic abilities used for personal gain and higher psychic abilities that assist large groups. One definition of the term 'psychic' is that the psyche is attuned to that of another person or energy. The prophets who accurately pretold information that assisted large groups, received their information by being impressed with it by a higher sorce, whether it be a discarnate being or a guardian of one sorce or another. Many of these did not consciously seek the info but received it during dreams or meditation and knew it to be real, thus shared their information.

Many of those who make predictions for a buck are simply using educated guesses. They typically state their predictions in a fairly nebulous fashion so it isn't difficult to later make it look as though it came true.

I think true prophets are psychic in the sense that their mind is open to receiving information from higher sorces--their psyche is attuned to higher energies.

The term 'psychic' has gotten a bad rep with so many taking advantage of others and glamorizing themselves.

A prophet is usually an intelligent philosopher who can control masses with his wit and articulate conversation. GWB could not be a prophet let alone finish hi school if it wasnt for his dad.

A part of our human condition is to both look within in our attempts to know ourselves and to look outwards in order to know our futures. From eons of studying nature and the world around us we have devised rituals and procedures with which to meet the unknown.

Arts of divination or extra sensory perceptions are diverse, numerous, ancient and new. My ‘A to Z’ list of psychic abilities is an on going project. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/list-of-psychic-abilities.html

No, a prophet is moved by God, a psychic is a gullible, weak minded idiot who believes in the occult.
