The child can have either parent's blood type, or even yet another type. The most reliable way to tell blood type is by doing lab tests on the kid's blood.

I was told my daughter's blood type before we left the hospital. I think they give the baby's a blood test before they leave.

Combination of both. There are 4 types o a b and ab
O is when the child receives type O from both parents OO recessive
A is when one or both parents pass on A so you can have AA or AO
B is the same as A
AB is when one parent passes on A and on Parent passes on B
For example I am O so I know I will pass O no matter what.
my husband is B, his mom however is O so he is BO
so our child will be BO or OO.
make sense?

You can't until baby is born, then by a simple blood test, he may inherit either of your blood type.
