I am a small statured woman and the air bag hit me right in the face, causing a broken nose, abrasions on the side of my face (not pretty) and ruptured two dics in my neck and further injuring my spinal cord. The cracked up discs in my neck are pressing inwards against my spinal cord. This cost me my career as a legal secretary because the nerves that are affected in my neck go straight to my hands. I have to have surgery or I might pick up a suitcase one day and paralyze myself. Can anyone tell me if they were successful in any lawsuits regarding their injuries and the air bag?

Thank you surnell for your answer. She's just naive and by the way little girl, had the air bag not deployed at 200 miles per hour with a force of approximately 2,000 lbs. of pressure per square inch and te force of a 12-guage shotgun blast in my face, I never would have been injured at all. It was a minor bumper bump in heavy traffic going about 1

Thank you Surnell very much for your highly intelligent answer. She's just a twit and by the way little girl, had the air bag not deployed at 200 miles per hour with a force of approximately 2,000 lbs. of pressure per square inch and te force of a 12-guage shotgun blast in my face, I never would have been injured at all. It was a minor bumper bump in heavy traffic going about 15 miles per hour and this idiot changed lanes in front of me and stopped, causing me, on purpose, I might add, to hit him. He rolled out of his truck, large truck (not a scratch on his extended bumper at all) screaming, my neck, my back (wrecker driver's words as I was unconscious for 45 minutes) and sued my insurance company for $12,000. I got nothing from anybody and was the one really hurt, he probably has no clue how badly he hurt me. I just don't know who to sue because I dont have the car in front of me to see who designed it or what. A Camaro is a Chevrolet product but do I sue GM? Who knows this answer?

CC you mean sue the manufacturer of the air bag in the driver's car that made me hit him? What sense would that make? I do feel like I need to sue him for personal injury and go after his insurance since He hurt Me trying to make money off the accident. ME for $12,000 for damage to his truck and he had already called my ins and said he was just reporting it and he was fine and so was his vehicle. My insurance co said my ins lapsed 9 days before the accident happened which is bull so he's coming after ME for the 12000 and he was the one that hit me basically, What's wrong with this picture? It's all in the name of staged accidents hitting expensive sports cars thinking I had a boatload of insurance. Apparently I didn't and somehow his personal ins paid for his damages and now the his ins is coming at me looking for thier 12000 back. Time is running out for me to sue somebody on or before the 18 of this month! HELP!!!!!

Set a precedent. Why wait for someone else? This seem to be a case of fence eating the crop (something designed to protect you is the one causing damage). Sue the manufacturers and go after 'em, so that they aren't casual about any features (especially those related to safety)
I am sure stature is not the point here. It is supposed to protect not cause damages- period.
Can't agree with the person who replied above that it is meant to save life. Hey I rather die than end being vegetable. In any case, airbags are meant not only to protect life. It is also not meant to take our disc from your spinal columns or abrade your face.
Be grateful for what, it is ridiculous. For rendering you a vegetable? C'mon! no one is doing anyone a favour. You paid for that feature and they make bagful of money at our expense.

I have never experienced an air bag being used in anger. Some years ago in the press there were a number of problems reported with children (and some adults) sitting in the front passenger seats being seriously injured (if not killed) by the release of airbags during accidents. As the intention of having an airbag is to protect life, rather than cause damage, I would have thought that there are lawyers who specialise in this type of case.
