Depends on how many people they stepped on to get to the top. Do it on your own merit, kudos! Do it because you plunged the dagger into someone's back, I'm not impressed.

I praise the successful ones, I criticise the unsuccessful ones and I envy on a case to case basis.

Praise by all means !!! Plus I check out to see what they are doing and see if they want to share any of their ideas.
Only inadequate, jealous, fools would criticize the successful people. You can pick them our in every crowd !

both encourage the success but yet be envious at the same time creating an even barrier between the two so you niether feel love nor hate especially if it is somebody close to you
