I have searched on the orange website and so far can only see how to turn it on ... I want to turn it off ... i have a nokia 6230i ... thank you...

As its a nokia I did this from the phone settings, not from contacting the network.
In the nokia phone menu go to settings, then call settings, then call divert, and then go down to cancel all diverts (it is automatically set to divert to voicemail if you are busy, on the phone, phone is off etc).
This fixed the problem for me! Now the mobile just rings, or if it is off the person calling gets a message saying the phone is unavailable- not voicemail.

is there not a number on yr phone book on yr sim to turn it off on mine i just call the number listed for turning it on or off and its done no charge.

it has to be the phone
