A shot rings out on a sunny afternoon, and a figure falls, clothed in red, white and blue, his shield falling down the steps of the courthouse as a crowd screams in terror. Captain America is dead. The news is immediate and the USA is shocked. A screen in Times square replays the act over and over, and a young mother covers her daughters eyes. "Why did they kill him Mommy?" Her mother, tears streaming down her face, says, "I don't know honey, I don't know". A crowd of young people, many dressed in Che Gueverra T-shirts, laugh and drink wine, smashing bottles on the street. "The man is dead!" One yells, then performs a dance on the sidewalk. "America is going DOWN!!" His friends all laugh.
On the TV, many commentators are talking. Fox has "Captain America remembered" and details his fight against the nazis, and his defined sacrifice for his country. Keith Olberman takes a different tack, saying "Did Captain America die for his own foolish Patriotism?"

Oh yeah! The left wing agenda is what killed Captain America. It is the same looney left wingnut thinking that destroyed Superman. This "kinder, gentler, more tolerant, more inclusive" sicko country we are turning into is tearing up our identity as a nation.

We are supposed to accept whoever for whatever reason and we are not allowed to not accept even the most disgusting of behaviors for fear that we may "hurt someone else's feelings".

I have had enough!!! Yes! I have my prejudices. I am happy with how I feel on all of the issues that involve my life, and I am not going to be ashamed to stand by my convictions.

No, conversely, the Republicans and their recent deisregard for the will of the people they supposedly represent killed Captian America.

The Captain America comic has been a commentary on American Society since its inception when, during WWII, Captain America was seen fighting such villians as Adolf HItler. Captain Amercia was protesting a super hero registration act (a thinly veiled representation of the US Patriot Act) when he was shot be his girlfriend who was hypnotized by the "bad guy."

Hmmm..is the American public being hypnotized into doing things that may be detrimental to their long term well being??

No. Captain America spoke out against the Bush Administration and the Republicans couldn't have that, so there you go.

What is evident in this whole nonsense is that America is clearly hungry for a real hero. How sad that it was found in a comic book character. Or is that actually a representation of the country itself?

Yes, that's it. I personally held the gun. Please. I guess you all need reminding that the creators of Captain America decided to kill the character. He just isn't as popular compared to Batman and Spiderman. Yes, I know what he was supposed to stand for, but this wasn't our idea. Most of us could care less about a comic book character.

What's up with the Con obsession with a comic book ?

It's kinda like their weird obsession with Bill Clinton's private parts.

Comic books and Willie's willy.

Amazing.

No..just like jesus, he is a fictional character in a made up story. He did not really die. Just like jesus could never die...fantasy is the opposite of reality. Deal with it.
