commercials show Dubai as the next heaven on earth, but did anyone know about the mafias and conspiracies and the rights taken from other people to acheive this -so-called- dream?

sunday papers mars-11 "Alkhaleej","7days":5000 workers refuse to work asking for a pay rise, some of them have been working for 18 years away from thier families, they ve been getting(if they ever got thier pay on time)550 Dhs-149.79$ As a MONTHLY pay, weras it th prices are getting higer, it costs at least 2500 dhs to live in a tiny studio-680.88$, Of course it ALWAYS depends on what passport you re holding, its the Country's right to recruit UAE citizens for the best job, but the truth is most of them were not UAE citizens(i Have seen it myself),And what about the 48 year old man who died in his car because he couldnt afford rent??? there was only a tiny article of 300 words about him of how everyone saw him either in his car or on the sidewalk, because he wouldnt be given a job after 48(probably was working in a private sector which is another uncontrolled problem) And he died of a heart attack all alone, of course he was not a holder of "the Passport".

Speaking of "the passport",this country is made for tourism and trapping people into staying in this country by building the impossible, bluntly put, be a holder of the Emirati passport(non emirati roots)or Europian passport you wont have any problems because you can work without experience wanted or diplomas.on the other hand others(people who have been working in the country even before it was officially united)with all the experience, they are simply rejected and they loose thier residence visa, with little or no reconcilience (i have met 100s of examples)surely some lucky ones got to be holders of the emirati passport, but the majority isn't.other than the fact that non emiratis pay less taxes, because what's shaved of is payed pay other nationalities, despite the fact that its most of them(again i have met some great individual emiratis of emirati roots that what i am saying does not apply to them)does not even pay, or known as REAL wasters.

as for "any one who doesnt like it can leave" when some one has worked his entire life trying to build something its not easy just to let go,and some campanies make thier ex-employees pay for thier passports so that they can go back to thier countries, the country may have caught a company or two but they're only a very long way..
of course other opinions of "happy people" are always welcome...

my sources are real journalists who have been prohibited of publishing these articles,if they did, they only write small articles ar change the story so it wont seem as bad.
i am saying this because i know that there are stil good people out there who have no idea and they are probably shileded from the truth by the promises made to them that the country will become a strong country.
as for the word taxes(which i used mean (bills, phone bills electricity bills, water bills)just so i become clear)
as for the mafia topic(which i was severly warned about opening) just try to know who bought most of the palm chalets...thats all and make sure you get the real answer......
i could be tracked down for such extreme express of opinion, if i wasnt, then that could change my opinion about how much freedom of expression is allowed for non citizens...

I won't even need journalists to prove any word that cameforth from your mouth. Judging by analogy (10 years of work in Saudi Arabia) and my own experience in the area, I do believe it all. You have not even exaggerated a bit, which is normally the case when this specific area is involved.
I worked in Saudi Arabia for 10 years. In my Middle Eastern culture, we have this saying “Man Jawaral-Haddada Hurika Be-Narihi", meaning "If you are the neighbor of the blacksmith, sooner or later you will get burnt by a spark of his fire" They are all neighbor. They are all corrupted to the core. I have been to all gulf-states. I have even published short stories in a Kuwaiti magazine called Al-Majaalis before the first Gulf war (1990).
As far as work is concerned, it is a well-established fact that it is all based on nationality. Saudis on top of the list given higher salaries though lots of them are inexperienced, equipped with fake experience or carrier of Diploma Mill purchased from the USA; only few are seriously educated. Have you heard of King Fahd’s son, the first Arabian atstronaut? LOL..He finished reading the whole Qur’an in his 3-day journey as if he had nothing else to do; defeating the purpose of his journey which everybody knows that his father paid a big chunk of money to finance the trip. It is shameful.
Anyways, I used to work as an Ophthalmic Assistant in King Khaked Eye Specialist Hospital; one of the most sophisticated hospital in the world. Having a conversation with a Saudi youth one day, he proudly mentioned that his country STARTS WHERE OTHER COUNTRIES END TECHOLOGY WISE. I was shocked by his ignorance; his country has been built and is still being built so far by foreign hands. I gave him a lecture on the meaning of INFRASTRUCTURE that he should not say what he said until they first have they history of basic trades; exaggeratedly shoe polisher and brick layers. What an attitude!
Next on the list come the westerner (Europeans and North Americans), and then comes the Middle easterners. At the bottom come people from the Far East, particularly from the Philippines despite they carry under their belts the same education and experience as the Westerners.
Their justification and problem lies in money conversion. Example: Westerners pay taxes back home on their overseas salaries, but Philippinos being paid $ 800, for example, at the end of the day they will be equal to the westerner having converted the Dollars to their own currency. For fairness sake, they got a point but in my mind their point is “Kawlun Hakkun Ureeda Bihi Batel”, meaning Truthful but meant for wicked intentions, and is un-Islamic. Muhammad, prophet of Islam said: “If you hire someone, pay him even though his sweat has not yet dried out”
I reasoned many of the religious authorities regarding religious issues. I found many of them to be the most ignorant ever; sometimes stupid. I refer you to my answer to question posted on Yahoo: http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AowLvVljxpNG7306mg4ObQnBFQx.?qid=20070123043511AAdPDnx&show=7#profile-info-b8c53a3ad07468edb3ac5dffa093dcfeaa
The Saudi royal family, i.e. the old ones, is a whole bunch of illiterate and thugs, hoarding most of the money and throwing the crumbs, which in their case is more than enough, to the Saudi people. Kuwait is historically a part of Iraq split by the British who colonized the area for a while, and was given to the most corrupted family in the area, Al-Sbbah family. Look how fat is the emir of Dubai is. The guy is doomed…He will eventually die from heart attack in his gilded bed..
Humph! I am full with stories which are more embarrassing. You just poked my distended abdoment and I do not want to leek on my monitor’s screen. LOL…It is flat, LCD and expensive.
In my culture, we say: “El-Filoos Ma’a El-Tiuus”, meaning “Sometimes riches are nothing but the assets of the fools. Those people are very rich. Go ahead and make your deduction.
Dubai is the next heaven on earth?! Are you kidding me? Get out of town!

What are you talking about? Any sources? No rights are taking from anybody. If any company does things against the Labour Law it's possible to file a complaint with the Labour Department any time.
Many people come to Dubai to live a better life than their home country offers them.
The Emirate of Dubai is a "young" country and growing really fast with the help of many hard working foreigners. 85% of the total population of the UAE are foreigners working here tax free.
Maybe not everything is perfect in Dubai - but name one country on earth where all people are satisfied. I live here since a couple years and know the difference between the commercials shown and the reality. So far I've never heard of any mafias and conspiracies over here.
Btw. nobody has to stay here. Who does not like it can feel free to leave the country any time.
Join the UAE forum and talk to the internatioal community living here directly.

What are you getting so mad about? I am quiete sure YOU ar not in a messed up situation, right? Of course not everything in the UAE is perfect. Everybody knows that. What you might not realize: where people coming from to put up with that, they would do worse in their own home country. Well, no ecsue, but maybe an examplanation.
btw. the guy who died in his car in Sharjah was in the country illegal and refused any help.
Like I said before, the worker's conditions might me hard, but why do they put up with that? It's coz it's worse in their own home country.
Still it's no reason to put down the whole UAE!
Take care

I think it means you feel romantically neglected. Or you feel horny. <=3 Your mind needed someone to use as a character so it chose Dominic because you think he's hot. Maybe you need to be more affectionate with your bf?
