There's no correct answer to this as music covers a vast ground when it comes to it's lyrical aspects. I am a music lover and musician myself and could not choose between any of my songs as I love them all as they are my children. Even though not so many people have heard my music, which is all instrumental for lack of poetry in my part, they all have taken a different meaning as time goes on. At one point in my life I thought "Stairway to Heaven" was the best song ever, but not anymore. Later I thought "You Enjoy Myself" by Phish was the best song ever. But to answer your question I'll nominate "Brite Nightgown" by Donald Fagen. I've been listening to it quite frequently.

That is a very hard question to answer. The song may not have been written yet.
Someone in high school or in their twenties has a somewhat limited number of songs to choose from. An old broad like me has decades of songs to choose from.
One of my favorites all time is "At Last". It's timeless.
