i am a size 16 on bottom for jean but a size 12 on top. if i was to go for a dress, what size should i buy. It is annoying me alot. i have recently brought a lycra dress which is size 12 which looks ok on me but should i go for a size 14 coz it might look as though i have sqeezed into it coz it shows off my bum but then the top part of the dress wont fit nicely coz then i am a size 12 on top and 16 at the bottom, i soooooo hate being such a weird size. you think i should go down to a 14 on bum? so atleast dresses look good on me?

If I were you, I would buy seperate top and skirt instead of a dress, because you will look bigger up top otherwise and a good fitting top will show off your best features.
I dont think theres anything wrong in buying jeans a size smaller either, it keeps you in and sometimes makes your bum look smaller (however this can have the opposite effect too) I always try on loads of pairs of jeans because theyre all different and I have trouble getting a pair that look good, so take your time and try on everything.
PS if you dont feel great in something, dont buy it.

I have the opposite problem! Size 16 round the boobs and a 12 on the bottom, makes dresses tricky but I've found that wrap overs are best as you can adjust to fit. Also those empire style smocks would be okay, as they are generally quite full on the bottom half, I can't wear those as if I get one to cover my boobs the skirt part is far too big!! I end up having more separates as that way I can fit both areas and that always looks better.

That is an extreme enough size difference that I wonder if you should buy the dress with enough material to have it tailored...then it will be made just for you...I saw on oprah once that if you want close to flatter you even jeans you should have them tailored.

I think a size 14 would be good. If not, try a bunch of sizes!!!

always wear clothes that fit well.....
pay no attention to the numbers....
good clothing should fit appropriately...
even jeans....neither too tight..nor too loose...
lycra dresses....are difficult to wear..perhaps you should try another manufacturer or style.
