the generator is work on the principle of fleming right hand rule but motor on the fleming left hand rule.generator convert from mech. energy to electrical energy but motor convert from electrical to mechanical energy.

A generator makes electricity from mechanic power . A motor makes mechanic power from electricity.

Its just a mater of how you use the electro-mechanical rotating device.

Spin it faster than the applied EMF would cause it to spin and it is a generator, spin it slower and it is a motor.
