People say Indonesia is prone to natural disasters. True, but you can't keep saying that as an excuse. There's this thing called "Disaster Risk Reduction." If you know your area is risky, then you should do something about it, instead of waiting for bad things to happen and in the end you can't cope and start praying. That's what a disaster is. When people cannot cope with a certain event.

For other incidents, it's because Indonesia has a weak and lame maintenance system. I know because I'm Indonesian and I've seen people violating the rules. Wicked mentality which leads to corruption is also part of the problems.

Strict actions should be taken against those people. And for the rest of the citizens, they should be provided with good education.

Natural disasters cannot be prevented. A country can't do anything to stop hurricanes, earthquakes, and typhoons. The United States was devastated by hurricane Katrina, and it is a highly advanced nation, so natural disasters do not discriminate.

Indonesia is in an area prone to earthquakes, so related disasters occur more frequently there. Nothing went wrong with the country. If there was a way to stop natural disasters, I'm sure Indonesia would do everything it could to stop them, but no nation has that power!

Disaster prone Indonesia is populated by people weak in faith, or weak in honesty, depending on your view.
The string of natural and man-made disasters that have plagued Indonesia since 2004, which are estimated to have claimed 200,000 lives, whether the Lapindo mud flow, the southern Java tsunami & earthquakes, the Yogyakarta earthquake, or the Adam Air crash, to name just a few.
Being a mostly Muslim country, a lot of religious leaders claim that Indonesia's followers are weak in faith and that these disasters are wake-up calls; some Christians claim it's God's revenge [what kind of Christians they are, I don't know.]

But of course, location is everything as well. Indonesia's right at the ring of fire, right smack on the Equator, divided by tectonic plates, and the monsoons coming from Sri Lanka somehow land there. It's also a huge archipelago. It's sad, but it happens. It's extremely sad though, because Indonesia is already stricken with poverty. I know.

Hi Im from Indonesia. Indonesia is on the ring of fire. Underneath, the earth is so fragile. In average of 100 years the lithosphere from Australia and Asia collide and cause earthquakes, volacanoe eruptions, hot gases, tsunami.

The country is affected by the La Nina and El Nino resulting in extremely bad weathers. During the hot weather, it causes hostile weather. When its hot, it triggers fire forest as the land is covered with turf, easily burned. During rains, it causes flood and landslides. These conditions are worsened by human! Too many to mention here.

for the natural disasters, it is most likely due to its location.

however, these disasters do not necessarily have to be fatal disasters. natural calamities happen to ALL countries, but they do not instantly turn into an international concern. indonesia lacks a solid infrastructure and support system, therefore ill-equipped to handle these calamities.

Man... wat can i say...is sad to be indon eh...natural disaster cannot be controlled by anybody..but the risk prevention is there and yet my fellow country peeps just will not change or take that into action.. why??? cause they say, "Well, the money is better inside my pocket than donating them to do all these prevention stuff"... whish is very true..because even if they spend all these money, does all these guys take good care of em? or make it worse by destroying em? Guys, check CNN and all that news coverage... all of yous can judge already....

We had a large flood not too lengthy in the past. Have tornadoes tremendously in lots of situations for the time of the summer season. And we are on the hot Madrid fault line, so at last we will have a ginormous earthquake.

According to my believe i think that it is the way Jesus is trying to warn people in Indonesia for whatever mistake they have made in the past and i think that He is trying to say "becareful, my second coming is near by and i just want you to be ready for judgement day."
