Theres a lot actually. One example from my class would be the airport. The airport ships out stuff with planes(golgi). Its control tower is the nucleus. The food court could be the mitochondria. The thing that provides food for people on planes would be the mitochonrdria. The cell membrane would be the customs. And cytoplasm is the runway on which the planes run on.

For a railroad, it would also work. Just think about what the components of a railroad are.

I also know of one, the city. The city has the border patrol for the membrane. Factories for mitochondria. The nucleus is the mayor. And so on... As you can see, there are many ideas and I hope this helped you.

Good luck!

An example of a cell metaphor is a factory. You have the building that prevents anyone but employees to be in the factory. They are producing a specific product or set of products. You have the "nucleus" (administration) that determines the specifics of what the factory is creating. You have different departments that are in charge of everything from energy to waste products and to presentation (marketing) of the finished product.
