I am interested in shamanism, espeiallly since i heard that once the mentally ill were considered to be gifted and were trained to become medicine men. I am bipolar and sometimes have believed that i have expereinced the mystical. What do you make of this?? Jungian psychologists would perhaps take psychosis more seriously than just pump us full of drugs.

Congratulations on taking the initiative in your own hands! Much better than to remain the eternal patient and victim! Good for you!

The following is just my opinion: I would try a course in shamanism, yes. The reason for this is that (again, to my mind) bipolar is a label which, in this day and age, is overused.

People just lack interest and direction in life. They don't know how to manage their moods and emotions. In this, a course in shamanism would help. Mention your condition to your instructor. Best of luck!

I know what u mean every doctor seems to have a different diagnosis n all they do is put drugs in u n wonder why there r so many addicts lol...bcuz they use us as guinea pigs if the med works 4 ya your a lucky 1 if not then u r struggling for yrs to come.I believe that my gut feelings r premonitions and have proven it many times. It has gotten stronger since NOT being on meds for a few yrs now.I have learn how to deal with the part of my brain that was making panic among other things like a personality disorder n a dissociative disorder.I'm not on any meds for yrs now and have 2 beautiful kids.It gets easier for me it seems as I get older.U should look into finding out what part of the brain is effected n makes u bipolar n find out how to deal with it without the meds.It really good n will make u feel good to know that u don't have to b on meds 4 life .Bye 4 now n have a wonderful wkend.

If you believe and they believe, it exceeds the healing process of a placebo.
But practicing medicine without a license is a crime.
