There's actually quite a few prepaid credit cards you can offer, but the one's I've given my son were from AmEx and MasterCard. They have some cute ones that have designs geared towards young kids and teens.. he dug it 'cause his name was on it and it made him feel like he was a big boy.

You can find these pretty much everywhere, like Walgreens, CVS, and grocery stores. The one thing to keep in mind though is that many of these cards charge you for each purchase, so essentially the kid may not be getting the full value of the card. In a sense it can be a bit of a rip off, but look into it more, there has to be a good honest one out there.

I know what you mean, its a credit card with a preset amount such as $500 (deposited to the card as a limit amount).
The person can spend only that amount (up to the limit) and only has to make a payment in order to keep the card active.
After a preset length of time by the credit card company they can offer you a credit card with a real credit rating thus you just built your own credit rating. I think its called a Guaranteed Secured Visa or Guaranteed Secured Master Card
