My mother gave me a ring many years ago that she received from my father when they were teenagers. It is a small round (I have seen oval though) blue stone similar to a marble. In the center there is a burst. The burst looks white with 6 points. I have heard it called a star-burst and a sun-burst.
Does anyone have any idea what the stone is?

Blue star stone could be a blue star sapphire, there is a ruby colored one as well.

without looking at the ring I could not tell you but If you take it to a jeweler he may be able to tell you (and it should be free unless you ask for an appraisal.

good luck

I'd take it to a reputable jeweler to find out for sure.
No one on here can really say without seeing it.
