Potential barriers - well it is a bit varied if your talking about the community at large. A question like this has many variables such as the socil structure of any one area, its population, its area, its educational and social systems and provisions, time in social activity, accses to ammenities, history and basic age analysis and gender ratio. Lac of education would be a huge barrier in any area and basic financial status plus its involvment in polical sustems to do with the countrys rising anaylisis of ramifications towards money speding national GRP and so on.

I asssume you already have experience of working in social care? So draw on your experience, as well as using your imagination a little.

First write a list of the ways you would or could communicate with your group of service users - e.g. letter, telelphone, internet, verbal, sign language, body language etc.

Then think of what faults there could be with each one - e.g. service user unable to read, hear, comprehend, etc.

Then look at ways that these can be overcome - e.g. using a different method, using an intermediary or advocate, learning new skills.

Also list the ways that service users may try to communicate with you and then identify any problems that there may be with those.

You should have everything you need then to answer the question. Hope this helps.
