Why is it that whenever someon is this country does something that includes a black person , It has to be nationally brodcasted and frontpaged? Example Disney story today on yahoo. They have to announce that they have their first black princess movie coming out.

I would think that as many years as Disney has been around they would just shut their holes and release the movies instead of saying...' We have been pejudice for far too long. Here is a Black princess story! It is our first black person story'

I dont know if i even make sense. Im rambling but i am angry. I am angry that others think black people need to be thrown a bone for their confidence by stupid white people who feel like they are doing a service by including a black person in something.

You dont hear this story if it is an Alien Princess. I think that would be a little more far fetched. I just do not see the point in making a big deal out of another human being becoming something in life or make believe.

All good answers, i cant pick the best because it wasnt about that. I want everyone to speak and not get cut off by a best answer.I am white also,It just makes me mad that people act this way.It actually makes them look worse. Some people see things like that and say, its no big deal. Then there are some who take it the wrong way. I take it the wrong way, maybe. But thats because i see it too much. I work in a poor community. I would say its 50 /50 white to black. It is a small town and there is no line between the two. STep out 10 miles or so and its a whole different ball game. Its sickening.

i agree with you

I'm upset too cause instead of making a movie version of Aida which is a very successful Broadway play for them, they are going to make a movie about a chambermaid who kisses a "frog" prince.

that is a bunch of crap...and why did it take so long

and i can't understand why they couldn't find any other real or legend African princesses to a make a movie out of

instead of this movie called "Frog Princess"

I totally agree with you and I find it extremely annoying when people do stuff like that. All throughout school I was in honors classes and made straight A's and because I'm a minority I got various awards for it every year. Most of my friends are white, they also made the same grades I did, but they didn't get any recognition. It makes me feel like they're saying "oh you're a minority, you aren't supposed to do well so lets give you an award and make a big deal out of it every time that you do". I think liberals and other people think that they're helping by making such a big deal, but I think they're just making people think that minorities really aren't meant to be successful.

I grew up in the 60s, they still had segregation then, a lot of people my age and older still remember that. Black people were arrested, harrassed, and sometimes beaten or killed if they did things white people thought they shouldn't do. I am white, but if I was treated that way, I would still feel bitter about it.
Also, Disney has had a lot of complaints about using racist stereotypes over the years, so I think they're trying to make an effort to do better.

Yes, you make sense. Perhaps they make those announcements because they belive it's a momentus event - bucking the trend. Another example would be 'the first Australian soccer team to play in the world cup.' They are not saying 'aussies suck at soccer' they are saying 'this is something new.' I don't take that to mean they are throwing us a bone of confidence. Is this any different to 'the first black princess?' I'm not so sure it is.

It's a politically correct world run by liberals leftists who feel like they need to apologize for being white. Stupid, isn't it?

Disney makes a big deal about every movie they make. And they always feel guilty over the whole "Song of the South" fiasko. (Which wasn't a big deal anyway).

Yes, yes, yes!! I agree with you. I'm not black but I do think from my own perspective that when a newspaper reports a story....a good one or a bad one...they have to say....for eg. 3 black youngsters etc. WHY??? GRRR! They don't say A white man...blah blah blah!!!
