This is a breach of contract lawsuit. Unless you can prove fraud, most states will not allow you to claim pain and suffering. However, you should be able to collect interest and whatever rate you state allows. Contact a local attorney for more advice or file a small claims action against him.

Hey, Tiger, have you considered television court shows such as Texas Justice, Exttreme Akim or the femme fatales of American law such as Judge Judy or Maybeline, etc? You have a good shot of recovering debts backed by your paperwork, but pain and suffering is iffy even in the non-televised courts. Presentation is important and do not appear vindictive, belligerant or conniving or you will lose points and money. The court shows will pay for your trip to Texas, New York or wherever as long as you agree to abide by their standard small claims court rules. You can eliminate the middleman and haul his triflin' buttocks to a local court, but again the pain and suffering bid is risky business and could tick off the judge. Play that card by ear and do not appear argumentive or unreasonably hostile.
You can probably get your loan back, but do not expect or demand more than is reasonable or judgment will go against you and you will get nada/zilch. The sooner you get off the revenge, begging or "hurt him back": stool, the sooner you weill be able to move on and forget the feckless dimweed. Guys like him rarely learn a lesson and consider yourself a winner if you recover your loan.

Sorry about your luck, there is an old saying, never loan to a friend unless you're willing to lose that $$ and a friend as well. This is where you need to go...you wanna get even, then show the whole world you're not getting mad, but even....get his butt on the Judge Joe Brown show! He specializes in issues like this! Sorry your own BF (though ex now) took things for granted...but he needs to be confronted and you need to show proof that you loaned him the money...go to the link below now and you'll see what could really happen to your ex and how he's gotten himself screwed! Good Luck with humiliating him. But always remember, don't test your own Karma by doing/saying anything to him...what goes around always comes around, and his is bound to come back around.

That is how people behave, when you have helped them out of a fix; it never fails. I would sue him for the money he owes me, never mind about "pain and suffering." He will try to tell the court that the money was a gift and you are asking for it back, only because of the break-up. The court will place great emphasis on this, and might even believe him. Try to marshall your evidence that he agreed to repay you, because believe me, that will be his defense. Either that, or he did not borrow any money from you. Good luck.

If you have it in writing then you can recoup your intial investment. Other than that, let it go.
If you get your money back you have faired far better than most would in your situation and if you don't get the money than you have paid a price for a very valuable lesson.
I'd say you aren't the loser. Don't allow yourself to become one.

Take a good long look at this ex-boyfriend. How much are you willing to spend to remove this man from your life? We all live and learn. Maybe you should, too.

depending on the amount of money, since you have things in writing, take him to small claims court, if it's worth it. otherwise, just rethink before you lend money to another boyfriend.
