Unfortunately, it isn't your imagination. A huge part of the gay population (and I've seen everything from California to Florida) are very stuck up. There are two reasons for this. Some gays have one or the other problem, some have both. First, it is a defense mechanism caused by severe and continual rejection throughout their lives. Second, they are whores, always on the look out for their next piece of meat, and if you aren't it then they have no time or interest because they think they'll give you the impression that they are interested in you if they are friendly to you. These are THEIR problems - not yours. You keep being a good person no matter what and ignore them, because eventually their problem will eat them up, and they're the ones who will end up old and lonely or sick. When they snub you, it isn't because you aren't good enough, it's because THEY aren't good enough. Take it as a compliment when they snub you!

Being a lesbian myself, I have to agree with you. From my experiences most of the other gays and lesbians I have encountered do have an attitude. I've been to many parties and social gatherings and the majority of them act very snobbish. I've never understood it. Most of my friends have always been straight. Where I now work, there are several lesbians that work there. They walk right by, wont say hello, smile or nothing. Do I say hello, not always, but I do smile. They just turn their heads. I dont know, maybe they are so stuck on themselves they think a smile means you are hitting on them; which I'm not. Going to a bar is something else. So many people stand around with their noses in the air, if it rained they would certainly drown. Maybe I'm just to damn friendly; but I'm a Texan and I cant help it.

That's a really good question! And you're right! It's not everyone but a lot of us do have this additude, I think it has to be some kind of ego defense mechanism. We've faced a lot of rejection and ridicule, and to combat the self-loathing we develop a false sense of malignant self-love. I personally was also raised in one of the most affluent towns in the US, so it was a very competitive, snobby environment, and it got to my head. I'm still working on fighting it.

well, for one thing...I don't know how many gays/lesbians and drag queens you know, but from my experience, none of us are any more stuck up than heterosexuals. I'd say it has to do with some kind of insecurity they are over-compensating for.

because i think taking about sex and whether penis size matters are not real conversation starters to me
i would rather talk about life in general
then how many times some one came when they did it last night
as theses are the normal conversation starters i seem to get
with just about every adult i seem to talk to
so i would rather keep to my self then put up with the same old ..

Its a defense mechanism. Many of them really they have self esteem issues. (or so I would guess. hey, man, don't take the reply as an admission of anything - Its worth at least a point) lol

Surely this is true of people in general and has little to do with
transgenderism, homosexuality, etc.
