The statement.... References available on request...
is implied. It's a traditional closing statement on
many resumes.

You don't need it. It's implied.

P.S. The top job searchers have five or six references, people familiar with your work experience. You would have separate letters of reference for each individual, and present them during the interview process, or when asked.....

AS the first poster said, yes you can but its not usually a good idea. Because if the employer decides to call those references before they call you in for an interview - you might end up missing out because of something they said.

Its more normal to just have one line at the bottom of the resume that says
"References available on request. "

And remember to take a list of them to the interview.

Yes. Make sure that you have permission of the referees before giving out their information though.
