A friend told me that once i have obtained my provisional, I have to take some kind of test before the lessons, then the lessons and then anouther test.
Is this true?

You have to get a provisional licence. Pass the theory portion of the driving test and then the practical. There is no testing before taking lessons. Your driving school will advise you.

When I did it about 2 years ago you just got your povisional and then got lessons, hte first lesson you have usually is just a run through about how the car works and what everything does then you might drive a bit, depends on how you are and how your instructor is. I went with BSM who weren't cheap but I got a good service and they want you to pass first time and to not do too many lessons (some private instructors take their time a bit too much as they obviously get more money the more lesson's they give you). This is what he means
you get your provisional license , you can start having lesson straight away with , anpproved driving instructor.
BFORE you do your practical test ,you have to do a theroy test, must pass this do to do your , practical driving test.
And you pay for both tests, plus the lesson, you can take the theroy test even, if you havent learnt the driving . But you must pass that that to do the practical driving test.

you can start your driving lessons as soon as you've got your provisional license. However at some point before you take your driving test you have to sit the theory test

Once you ahve the provsional licence. Just book lessons with a instructor.
