What aspect of the film "The English Patient" did you like? Was it the romance? The breathtaking view? The plot? Or was it just its Britishness?

If you liked its Britishness, I would recommend that you start seeing the BBC library right away. They have such a marvelous collection of literary films there, and it is my opinion that they have reached the top of their powers in adapting the great novels into films. Of course, these are not actual films, but television series done in a grand manner. For starters, you could see North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. Even Pride and Prejudice by Colin Firth is very worth the watch.

If you liked the views and the captivating love story of "The English Patient," then you might want to see "Out of Africa" or even "Doctor Zhivago." "Lawrence of Arabia" is also very good.
