Heya I'm doing a dissertation and it's on obesity and McDonalds. I'm not doing any primary research it's all based on secondary researc, the thing is that I need a good enough reason to say why i'm not doing primary research. I can't think of anything please help. I'm so desperate.

You could always say the documentary "SUPER SIZE ME" was the definitive research on the topic .

There really isnt a good enough reason to not do primary research. It would complement your research tremendously.
If you are really set against doing primary research, you could suggest that since McDonald's and obesity have been research a lot by a lot of different researchers, the objectives of your primary research have already been achieved by another research that you will be using as secondary research in your project.

As far as i know that was taught by my lecturers the best is always the primary source.in my opinion you could said that secondary source has more on public opinion and more options to it. where else primary source is too much on facts and this is about obesity so it is best to use secondary source since it is based on ppl daily life because primary source is totally on research and might have only old facts that cant be used.secondary source is been updated by all kinds of researchers.i hope this helps u.this what i have in mind right now.but ill let u know if i have more ideas.but why u wanna use secondary source newayz??

There are already may article on the subject, and a crappy book called FAST FOOD NATION. You should argue from the point that the resourse are all there, it is just your job to make the most sense of them. And also, do some small research. Go to McDonald's and check the fat content of all of their menu items, and compare them to the daily diet neccessary for survival. I am sure you will see that one burger along get pretty close or surpasses it. Any how, i'm all out, I want to make some food now.

Just tell them it's already been done too many times, so secondary is a better choice.
