Yes. A life without freedom isn't living. You would be a robot, a zombie, a pawn with someone else choosing when & how you move.

Freedom can seem overwhelming sometimes. It's a responsibility because you are accountable for your own choices. When we are young & helpless our parents care for us & we are not free to make our own decisions. In some ways our lives seem easier & more carefree that way, yet our need for independence & autonomy makes it frustrating not to be able to do what we want. We look forward to growing up & being in charge of our lives. It is more fulfilling not to live in a prison. Good parents will give their children a little taste of freedom to help them stretch their boundaries, yet still give them structure & make sure that they're safe. Of course with adulthood & freedom comes responsibility (societal obligations, work, bills to pay etc).

Freedom is a gift. We are very fortunate to be living in a country where we have it. Many people take their freedom for granted. They don't take advantage of the opportunities that are available. They let fear imprison them & keep them from taking risks or doing new things. Without freedom & taking risks, we can not grow or live up to our potential.

I grew up under a dictatorship... this was no good life- so freedom is key. RESPONSIBLE freedom is what leads to a good life, not the insistence and entitlement thinking that often dominates our culture and is passed off as freedom. Plato was a believer in freedom that also carried responsibility (the freedom to do and not just the freedom from something) and not the hedonistic freedom many espouse.

Don't you? Personally I do, mentioning that everything in life should be moderate, including liberty!
